The Foundation for Economic Education (FEE) is proud of its sixty-three-year history of presenting the moral and economic foundations of a free society to audiences around the world. Our friends think of us first and foremost for our principles but for those who have visited our headquarters or attended a seminar there, the building from which we’ve done our work also carries special significance.
The FEE “mansion” was built in the 1880s as a family home and is located not far from the Hudson River in Irvington, New York. Purchased by our founder, Leonard Read , in the year of our founding, 1946, it has played host to thousands of devotees of liberty. Great names like Ludwig von Mises and F. A. Hayek have walked its halls. From these offices, we have faithfully published our magazine, “The Freeman,” and sponsored seminars for high school and college students for more than half a century.
In this short video tour filmed in the summer of 2009 by Peter Eyre, Jason Talley and their associates at MotorhomeDiaries.com, FEE’s board chairman Wayne Olson explains the significance of some of the memorabilia on our walls. We’re proud of the physical facility and the many treasures it contains but more importantly, we’re proud of the fact that our principles are utterly the same as they were 63 years ago. We intend to keep it that way for a long time to come, whether our physical headquarters is in New York or elsewhere.

Thanks for exposing more people to this video and more importantly – to FEE and the ideas of liberty!
We live in an exciting time – one where geographical boundaries are shattered by the Internet allowing for the dissemination of ideas and the negation of government censorship, so we can learn from each other and better advance the voluntary society.

I really really appreciate and respect you for how you guys put some skin in the game for liberty. It seems awful that tyranny is on the march is such overt ways in this country. Let me know if there is anything I can do for you. Thanks for your example to all of us who blog in the comfort of our homes.
